The Industry IoT Consortium® (IIC™) announced updates to its Industrial IoT Internet Connectivity Framework (IICF), a foundation document that guides the building of an Industrial IoT (IIoT) connectivity architecture. The latest version of the IICF expands the connectivity guidance to include lightweight, resource-constrained machine-to-machine (M2M) devices often found at the edge of networks.

CEVA Inc., a licensor of wireless connectivity and smart sensing technologies and integrated IP solutions, announced that it’s latest RivieraWaves Bluetooth® 5.3 IP family now supports Auracast™ broadcast audio, the new audio sharing standard based on the Bluetooth LE Audio broadcasting specification, unveiled by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG).

The first company to announce device-level protection solutions specifically for legacy and new industrial machinery and smart factory production lines, NanoLock's industrial protection solutions have been in trials with customers in Europe and are now available worldwide.

The LoRa Alliance®, the global association of companies backing the open LoRaWAN® standard for the internet of things (IoT) low-power wide-area networks (LPWANs), announced that LoRaWAN now supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) from end-to-end. By expanding the breadth of device-to-application solutions with IPv6, LoRaWAN’s addressable IoT market is broadened to include internet-based standards required in smart electricity metering and new applications in smart buildings, industries, logistics, and homes.

I used to think electric vehicles (EVs) were invented recently in response to the global outcry to reduce carbon emissions. So, you can imagine my surprise when I learned EVs have been in and out of popularity since the late 19th century but didn’t stick until the 21st century mostly because fossil fuels were just so available.

Cities around the world recognize the advantages of traffic management systems that are designed to optimize traffic flow and minimize congestion. By installing a system of cameras, sensors, radios, and other equipment, telemetry data can be collected roadside and sent to a central control system that synchronizes traffic lights in real-time.
