The industry revolves around two types of AI, namely research AI versus production AI. I wasn’t sure what these terms meant and their differences, so I asked an expert to join me on this week’s Embedded Executives podcast.

John Weil is the Vice president and General Manager of Synaptics’ IoT Business Unit. After setting me straight, John talks about the last 20% of a design that the customer needs to figure out for themselves, amongst other things.

With all the focus on AI and machine learning these days, we sometimes take other facets of design for granted, some of which are vital, like the wireless component.
 

In order to create more innovation in wireless performance and interoperability utilizing scalable AI, Synaptics designed its Veros Seamless Intelligent Connectivity series to support systems on chips (SoCs) for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, and 802.15.4. The SYN4383 and SYN43756E SoCs target devices demanding the highest Wi-Fi throughput and range with seamless network interoperability.

Today’s embedded processors are tasked with supporting advanced AI workloads that also enable power efficiency and low latency. Additionally, customers also need solutions that are flexible, scalable, and easy to develop in various environments, and sometimes under stringent circumstances.
