New WEBS-1150 and WEBS-1250 feature rugged fan-less design and Industrial wide-temperature range for improved reliability
FREMONT, CALIF. — October 26, 2018 — American Portwell Technology, Inc., (www.portwell.com) a wholly owned subsidiary of Portwell, Inc., a world-leading innovator in the embedded computing market and a member of the Intel Embedded and Communications Alliance (Intel ECA), has released WEBS-1150 and WEBS-1250, two new embedded rugged fan-less systems based on Intel’s Atom E3900 family-based processors. The Portwell WEBS-1150 features an ultra-compact Nano-ITX chassis (5.9" x 5.9" x 2.6") while the WEBS-1250 provides a compact footprint of just 7.875" x 5.75" x 2.625?. Both the WEBS-1150 and WEBS-1250 feature a wide range of I/O interfaces as well as storage and wireless card additions. They operate at a low power consumption of less than 12W, and are completely fan-less, making them a cost-effective and quiet solution. Portwell’s new WEBS-1150 and WEBS-1250 also supports a wide power input range of 12-24V and wide operating temperature of -40°C to 85°C.
In addition to the core Intel components, the new additions to Portwell’s WEBS family include: support for dual display and configurable GPIO; dual Gigabit Ethernet and wireless connectivity options; accessible second storage; and support for up to 8GB DDR3L and rich external I/O via 6 x USB 3.0, selectable serial ports, audio and GPIO.
American Portwell’s WEBS-1150 and WEBS-1250 embedded systems are available now for applications such as industrial automation, communication appliances, self-service terminals, IoT gateways and medical equipment.
“The main difference between the two embedded systems is that the WEBS-1250 has more I/O ports,” says Andy Chen, Portwell’s product marketing manager. “It has six serial ports suitable for customers who have a need for legacy peripherals that require the RS-232/422/485 interface. The WEBS-1250 also has six USB 3.0 ports. The WEBS-1150 is more compact by comparison.”
Rugged, Compact and Versatile
Because Portwell’s new WEBS family takes advantage of Intel’s Apollo Lake E3900 series processors, it can support a wide range of industrial applications that require a broad range of temperatures and high reliability with network connectivity. “Plus,” Chen comments, “it provides wireless connectivity with small form factor design, combined with rich I/O to support a wide range of peripherals and different applications. The broad power input range of 12 to 24V DC, plus six USB 3.0 connections and resolution of up to 4K mean these systems can more than handle the high performance our customers require, including network control and wireless connectivity for remote and unmanned applications. "What’s more," Chen adds, "our customers not only benefit from American Portwell’s ability to consistently provide the most up-to-date technology and features, but they also gain peace of mind from the long life cycle support inherent with every Portwell product."
