Lanner Electronics’ FirstNet LTE Modules Add Redundancy to First Responder Networks

To address the high-speed broadband requirements of the U.S. government’s FirstNet public safety communications platform, Lanner Electronics has upgraded its V3S and V6S rugged in-vehicle computers with extension slots for FirstNet-ready Pigeon (PGN) modules. These modules, which are integrated onto a caddy, can be plugged into the aforementioned systems to add 4G or 4.5G LTE wireless connectivity today and 5G communications in the future.
The PGN-600 FirstNet-ready PGN modules are based on the Sierra Wireless EM7511 chipset, which features a 4G/LTE CAT-12 modem. The platform is out-of-the-box compliant with FirstNet and CBRS standards, and has been certified with PTCRB and AT&T dedicated public safety networks.
The PGN-600 modules come with dual SIM support for redundant LTE network connectivity and failover capabilities. They also feature an optimized dual antenna design for strong signal and receive transmissions. Further, the swappable caddy that house the PGN modules also simplify field service and replacement.
