Prolifics Testing found that data analyst roles are most coveted by American engineers, and that Python education is more sought after than for any other programming language.
Prolifics Testing recently completed a study on the most in-demand technology jobs in the United States and which programming languages developers are most interested in learning. Based on search data from Indeed and Ahrefs, the company found that data analyst roles are most coveted by American engineers, and that the search volume for Python education is more than three times as frequent as the next closest programming language.
As shown in Figure 1, data-related engineering roles comprise three of the top 10 most sought-after technology job titles in America, with Data Analyst, Data Scientist, and Data Engineer placing first, fourth, and ninth, respectively. Interest in general software engineering/development roles accounted for more than 36 percent of the top 10.
In terms of programming language interest, Python searches comprised nearly 40 percent of learning-related searches. Embedded languages C++ and C# rank fifth and sixth, with the machine-learning-oriented R programming language placing eighth.
