embedded world 2021: Update on Maintenance of IEC 61508-3 for Safety Software

On Monday, March 1st, at the first all-digital embedded world exhibition and conference, Michael Kinderman of Pepperl+Fuchs will be discussing the IEC 61508 standard that defines safety functions within industrial applications and outlines the levels of risk reduction known as Safety Integrity Levels (SIL).

This presentation is a part of Session 4.1 on Safety & Security: Safety Processes and Standards where Kinderman will present an overview of IEC and related topics, provide an outline of proposals, and discuss how the need to update the series of international standards is being identified by nationally responsible entities. Also, for Germany, members of the DKE Committee GAK 914.0.3 and others support the updates related to Safety Software.
