Entrust Datacard will leverage the HSMs in its public key infrastructure (PKI) and secure sockets layer (SSL) offerings, making it available in services like IoT device authentication.
Entrust Datacard has completed the acquisition of Thales’ nCipher Security business, which makes general-purpose hardware security modules (HSMs). Entrust Datacard will leverage the HSMs in its public key infrastructure (PKI) and secure sockets layer (SSL) offerings, making it available in services like IoT device credentialing, authorization, and lifecycle management.
HSMs offer the highest levels of cryptographic security to protect against network and cybersecurity risks. The acquisition of nCipher will enable Entrust Datacard to expand compliance capabilities, including by offering trusted hardware, trusted identities, and assured cloud services hosted in its secure facilities.
300 nCipher employees are joining Entrust Datacard, but will continue to be based in Cambridge, UK and Sunrise, Florida for cybersecurity development and business operations, respectively.
