Press Release
As opposed to ASICs, the flexibility of the FPGA-based accelerators also makes them resistant to algorithm change in artificial intelligence and machine learning applications.
NORTH CANTON, OH. Squirrels Research Labs has released a family of blockchain acceleration hardware based on Xilinx Virtex UltraScale+ VU33P and VU35P FPGAs and HBM2 memory. The company states that HBM2 technology permits the FPGA accelerators to perform memory-bound computing tasks much more quickly than existing technology while also consuming less power than external DRAM.
In addition to blockchain and cryptocurrency mining, the accelerators also target data center compute workloads such as video processing, database acceleration, and machine learning. As opposed to ASICs, the flexibility of the FPGA-based accelerators makes them resistant to algorithm change.
