Dialog Semiconductor announced the release of the DA16600, a module designed to combine the company’s Wi-Fi and BLE capabilities in one solution.
The module hosts two SoCs, including the DA16200 and the SmartBond™ TINY DA14531.
Combining Wi-Fi and BLE, the module acts as a firmware solution with the combo of the two protocol stacks. This helps to eliminate issues caused by the existence of two radios at 2.4GHZ in the same design. An important concept to note, BLE provides easier configurability for Wi-Fi within the application.
“We recognized that many of our customers could benefit from a more integrated two-in-one solution that could further reduce development time and costs for their IoT devices,” said Senior Vice President of Connectivity and Audio Business Group Sean McGrath, in a press release. “By combining our successful BLE solution with our brand new Wi-Fi VirtualZero technology in one easy-to-use and configured module, we are delivering the most value to our customers, giving them the best of both worlds with a single solution.
According to the same release, the module is fully certified for worldwide operation, including certifications for FCC, IC, CE, Telec, Korea and SRRC. It is also Wi-Fi CERTIFIED® for interoperability.
