Reduced Energy Microsystems has joined the non-profit RISC-V Foundation to contribute to the architecture of the future.
SAN FRANCISCO (PRWEB) NOVEMBER 28, 2017. Reduced Energy Microsystems (REM), a semiconductor startup working on ultra-low power SoCs for embedded vision, announced today that it has joined the RISC-V Foundation, a non-profit corporation controlled by its members to drive the adoption and implementation of the open, free RISC-V instruction set architecture (ISA) forward.
“The RISC-V CPU architecture has enabled us to move quickly and freely,” said REM Head of Software Eleazar Vega-Gonzalez. “The open-source nature of RISC-V made it an attractive architecture to us from day one, and the tremendous work in the hardware and software ecosystem has made it truly ready for production. We’re excited to use RISC-V CPUs in our products and contribute back to this amazing community.”
“We are excited to see innovative startups join the RISC-V Foundation and help push forward our ecosystem,” said Rick O’Connor, executive director of the non-profit RISC-V Foundation. “Bringing RISC-V to lower power budgets and new applications is fundamental to growing the reach of RISC-V, and we are excited by REM’s technologies and roadmap to do just this.”
