SEGGER announced its J-Link OB is now playing a crucial role in BBC’s new Doctor Who HiFive Inventor Coding Kit.
The J-Link debug probes can be found on a wide range of evaluation boards and SBCs, however, the Doctor Who HiFive Inventor Coding Kit is rather prominent. The kit is used for educational purposes, created for children by Tynker and RISC-V IP provider SiFive, and backed by BBC Studios (a division of the BBC).
The kit, which is shaped like a hand (hence the HiFive), is powered by a 150-MHz SiFive FE310 RISC-V processor and has built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
According to a company press release, the kit, which is guided by Tynker’s educational coding package, allows students to read data from the on-board suite of sensors and program on-device decisions to display results using the fun and colorful LED-matrix display.
