QuickLogic announced the release of its Qomu development kit, a tiny form factor Arm® Cortex®-M4F MCU + eFPGA combination that fits into a USB Type A port.
According to the company, the kit is optimized for the QuickLogic Open Reconfigurable Computing (QORC) initiative and is supported by a wide variety of vendor-supported open source development tools, including Zephyr, FreeRTOS, SymbiFlow, and Renode.
Further, it contains the company’s EOS S3 MCU + eFPGA SoC, enabling the processing capabilities for the tiny kit. The MCU on the device enables software development while the embedded FPGA (eFPGA) is able to be used to accelerate or offload algorithms from the mentioned MCU. It can also simplify implementation of custom IP.
Qomu is ideal for edge IoT applications, especially those that require ultra-low power consumption and AI or machine learning capabilities.
