AAEON has released the PICO-APL4, a compact and cost-effective single board computer (SBC) based on Intel Atom, Pentium N4200, or Celeron N3350 processors. Designed to the PICO form factor, the APL4 features onboard memory and storage along with dual Gigabit Ethernet support that make the platform well-suited for factory automation and IoT gateway systems.

Up to 4 GB of onboard DDR3L memory and up to 64 GB of onboard eMMC storage make the PICO-APL4 more resistant to shock and vibration regularly experienced in industrial settings. It also reduces application development time and eliminates compatibility issues with external memory and storage.

“Its combination of dual Gigabit Ethernet support with onboard memory and storage put it ahead of almost every competing board, and its flexibility and expansion options ensure that the PICO-APL4 is unmatched,” Jones Huang, AAEON embedded computing division product manager stated.

The PICO-APL4 controller houses USB ports and connectors, COM ports, an HDMI port, and optional eDP. There’s also a 4-bit DIO to manage peripherals and an optional four-lane MIPI-CSI. The M.2 B and E keys enable the connection of additional storage and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth modules. Customers can also extend the I/O interface and add a larger DIO with a board-to-board option.
