Public registration for voting on American National Standards Institute (ANSI) recognition of these draft standards is now open. This ballot is open to both VITA members and non-members.

Description: The VITA 47.0 working group has completed the revisions and has voted to take the documents through to the ANSI process to be recognized as a revised ANSI standard. Voter registration for ANSI recognition of the following draft standards is now open:
VITA 47.1, Common Requirements for Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for VITA 47 Plug-In Modules Dot Standard (new Standard)
Abstract: This standard defines the common Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for Plug-In Module requirements common across VITA 47.1, VITA 47.2, and VITA 47.3. VITA 47.2 and VITA 47.3 contain the unique requirements aligned with the definitions of IPC J-STD-001. Class 2 and 3 respectively.
VITA 47.2, Class 2 Requirements for Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for VITA 47 Plug-in Modules Dot Standards (new Standard)
Abstract: This standard defines the unique Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for Plug-In Module requirements related to products meant to align with the applications defined in IPC J-STD-001, Class 2.
VITA 47.3, Class 3 Requirements for Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for VITA 47 Plug-In Modules Dot Standard (new Standard)
Abstract: This standard defines the unique Environments, Design and Construction, Safety, and Quality for Plug-In Module requirements related to products meant to align with the applications defined in IPC J-STD-001, Class 3.
ANSI function: ANSI facilitates the development of American National Standards (ANS) by accrediting the procedures of VITA, whose groups work cooperatively to develop voluntary national consensus standards. Accreditation by ANSI signifies that the procedures used by VITA in connection with the development of American National Standards meet the Institute’s essential requirements for openness, balance, consensus and due process.
Policy: Potential balloters will be asked to specify one of the following interest categories when registering for a ballot.
Producer – produces the end result of the standard or supplies components used in the standard.
User – uses the end result of the standard.
Government/Military – user or producer of the standard in government or military setting.
Research – user or producer of the standard in a research setting.
General Interest – neither a user nor producer.
The affiliation and interest category of each member of the balloting body shall be made available to interested parties upon request.
A balloter who has indicated a desire to be on the standards development committee’s list for a particular category or categories of standards shall receive the proposed standard(s), electronic ballot(s), and all appropriate information.
