Dialog Semiconductor and GLOBALFOUNDRIES announced an agreement in which Dialog will license its conductive bridging RAM (CBRAM) technology to GF. The Resistive Ram (ReRAM)-based technology, created by Adesto, was acquired by Dialog this year.
Per a company press release, GF will originally offer the CBRAM as an embedded, non-volatile memory (NVM) option on its 22FDX platform.
The CBRAM is a low-power NVM solution for a range of applications ranging from IoT to 5G. Key features include low power consumption, high read/write speeds, reduced manufacturing costs, and tolerance for harsh environments.
Further, Dialog’s technology offers embedded memory while maintaining ReRAMs low-voltage operation. Compared to most embedded Flash offerings, this translates to lower energy write and read access.
GF will make the CBRAM available in production as an embedded NVM option on the 22FDX platform in 2022. Users will have the ability to modify the CBRAM cell to optimize SoC designs, enhance security, or adapt the cell for new applications.
