Acromag expands their offering of AcroPack rugged I/O modules based on the mPCIe standard with a new quad-channel isolated CAN bus interface card. The AP560 module provides four independent, isolated CAN bus channels. Each channel has a Holt H13111 CAN controller paired with an Analog Devices ADM3053 transceiver for high-performance and high-voltage isolation. Designed for defense and avionics applications, the controller is configurable to comply with ARINC 825 and CANaerospace standards. A variety of carrier cards are available to host up to four AcroPack I/O modules on PCI Express, VPX or XMC computer platforms.

This module offers an effective solution for interfacing isolated CAN bus signals in aerospace, military, and other applications implementing the CAN 2.0A/B specification. 1000V isolation safely separates the four channels from each other and from the host. The controller is ISO 11898-5 compliant for Part A (11-bit) and Part B extended (29-bit) arbitration ID with programmable bit rates up to 1Mbit/s.

“With this addition of a CAN bus interface solution, the AcroPack I/O line can now accommodate an even broader range of applications,” stated Robert Greenfield, Acromag’s Business Development Manager. “System developers are able to mix CAN bus modules with other AcroPack models on a single board for any mix of analog I/O, digital I/O, serial communication, or FPGA processing functions.”

AcroPack mezzanine modules improve on the mini PCI Express architecture by adding a down-facing 100-pin connector that securely routes the I/O through a carrier card without any loose internal cabling. Carrier cards in PCIe, VPX, and XMC formats let you combine up to four I/O function modules from more than 25 available models in a single computer slot. Software tools support embedded applications running on Linux®, Windows®, or VxWorks® operating systems.
