Amazon FreeRTOS supported by 32-bit Microchip PIC MCUs

The integration of Amazon FreeRTOS with PIC32MZ EF MCUs provides access to software libraries that simplify connecting to local gateways or the cloud.
Chandler, AZ. Microchip Technology has announced that its PIC32MZ EF series of microcontrollers (MCUs) now supports Amazon Web Services’ (AWS’) Amazon FreeRTOS operating system (OS). The integration of Amazon FreeRTOS with PIC32MZ EF MCUs provides access to software libraries that simplify connecting to local gateways or the cloud, and also eases the deployment of applications such as secure over-the-air (OTA) updates.
PIC32MZ EF MCUs are a family of high-performance 32-bit devices that incorporate connectivity, Flash memory, and peripherals alongside a comprehensive development toolchain. The Curiosity PIC32MZ EF development board allows developers to prototype Amazon FreeRTOS-based designs in a kit that includes two mikroBUS sockets for system expansion.
Support for Amazon FreeRTOS is the latest collaboration between AWS and Microchip. AWS Greengrass software has been integrated in Microchip’s SAMA5D2 microprocessors (MPUs), and ATECC608A CryptoAuthentication devices are compatible with the Just-in-Time Registration (JITR) capabilities of the AWS IoT platform.
