IOTech Releases Edge XRT, Time-Critical Edge Platform for Microsoft Azure Sphere

IOTech announced the release of Edge XRT, a time-critical edge platform for Microsoft Azure Sphere.
The platform, which was optimized for resource-constrained environments, provides out of the box connectivity and edge intelligence for MCUs, gateways, and sensors at the IoT edge.
Azure Sphere is an application platform that offers built-in communication and security features for connected devices. It is made up of a connected crossover MCU, a Linux-based OS, and a cloud-based security service.
According to a company press release, Edge XRT for Azure is fully compatible with Azure Sphere-certified chips and Azure Sphere OS. An Azure Sphere device is designed to integrate securely with the Azure Sphere security service running in the cloud. The security service ensures the integrity of the device and provides the secure channel used by Microsoft to automatically install Azure Sphere OS and customer application updates to deployed devices.
A great benefit of the platform is that it reduces the time-to-value for Azure Sphere, meaning it will deliver secure, connected device deployments quickly. Further, it will reduce communication with the cloud because workloads will be moved to the edge of the network.
It also makes connecting sensors and devices at the edge simpler by configuration as opposed to coding.
