Power Integrations announced the release of the LYT6078C, the company’s newest product within the LYTSwitch™-6 family of safety-isolated LED drivers for smart lighting applications. The new IC uses Power Integrations’ PowiGaN™ gallium nitride (GaN) technology. As shown in the new design example report from the company, it delivers efficiency and enhanced performance benefits.
The report details a two-stage PFC boost in addition to isolated flyback on a dimmable LED ballast. Peak efficiency of over 91% is provided when driving a 48V LED string at 1350 mA
The LYT6078C IC features a 750V power switch and flicker-free output up to 90W; other members of the LYTSwitch-6 family provide up to 110W. Further, system efficiency exceeds 90%. from a 220 VAC to 277 VAC input. System power consumption is less than 80 mW in standby mode.
Per the company, LYTSwitch-6 ICs also incorporate Power Integrations’ FluxLink™ communication technology, which allows secondary-side control without the need for an optocoupler, and provides better than ±3% CV and CC regulation across line, load, temperature, and manufacturing.
