I’m not necessarily on board with the conspiracy theory folks who think that every enabled device in our home is out to get us. But there are some who think that way. Hence, a product like Sensory’s Truly Natural voice recognition can be used in an application that’s not connected to the Internet. I saw a demo of this technology last week at CES and was quite impressed.
The company created a video that shows a microwave oven that’s enabled by voice commands. The key here is that the intel never goes any further than the target device. It’s never put out onto the Internet. In fact, in the case of the microwave, it’s not connected to anything but an AC outlet and it doesn not possess wireless capabilities (like WiFi or Bluetooth). So you don't need to worry about Big Brother. And as you can see (or hear), the voice recognition technology is not user specific.
When it comes to security, Sensory has a product called Truly Secure that enables biometric authentication using either face recognition or a combination of face and voice recognition. No specialized hardware is needed to make the application work.
