Cypherbridge SDKPac Toolkit Integrates MBAPS Modbus Protocol

MBAPS defines client and server roles so that Modbus servers can provide TCP network access to Modbus registers. MBAPS utilizes RFC 5246 TLS 1.2 to encapsulate the Modbus protocol in TLS.

CARLSBAD, CA. The Cypherbridge uMODBUS Toolkit now supports the Modbus TCP Application Protocol Security (MBAPS) specification, which enables bus configurations such as RTU RS-485 and TCP. The uMODBUS Toolkit implements MBAPS though the SDKPac uSSL TLS 1.2 SDK.

MBAPS defines client and server roles so that Modbus servers can provide TCP network access to Modbus registers. MBAPS utilizes RFC 5246 TLS 1.2 to encapsulate the Modbus protocol in TLS for transport security, message integrity, and authentication and authorization via X.509 certificates. The Cypherbridge uMODBUS Toolkit verifies client certificates, and allows developers to implement Operator, Technician, or User authorization rights down to the register level via an IANA-registered certificate extension.

Role rights are stored in a database that can be offloaded into external IT systems using the Cypherbridge SDKPac.

The Cypherbridge SDKPac and uMODBUS Toolkit are available now on Linux, Renesas Synergy, NXP, and STMicro platforms. For more information visit www.cypherbridge.com.
