SAN JOSE, CA. Maxim Integrated Products’ new MAX86150 delivers photoplethysmogram (PPG) and electrocardiogram (ECG) measurements for health monitoring from a mobile, battery-powered device.
It is a first-of-its-kind biosensor module consisting of internal LEDs, photodetectors and an ECG analog front-end (AFE) giving highly accurate, FDA-certifiable PPG and ECG functionality in mobile phones, laptops, tablets and smart speakers. It also has a long battery life and is deployed via dry electrode, eliminating the use of gels, fluids and sticky or wet applications directly on the skin.
“The MAX86150 is another important breakthrough at Maxim, continuing the company’s push to enable a healthier world. With highly accurate heart-rate measurements from a compact, low-power device, consumers will be empowered to be more proactive about their healthcare,” said Mohammad Zarghami, Maxim Integrated’s executive business manager, Industrial & Healthcare Business Unit.
