KYOTO, JAPAN. Nidec Corporation’s Board of Directors approved the acquisition of OMRON Automotive Electronics Co. Ltd. from OMRON Corporation.

Nidec Elesys and OMRON Automotive Electronics’ complementary ADAS offerings have generated significant synergies in wave radar, camera-related products, laser radar, and driver monitoring systems, resulting in a full line of sensors for autonomous driving. 

OMRON Automotive Electronics brings expertise in control equipment, systems, and electronic sensors and components to a Nidec portfolio that includes electric power steering (EPS) motors, electric brake motors, and electronic control unit (ECU) modules.

Together, the unified company hopes to accommodate current trends in vehicle electrification by way of EV traction motor systems, as well as autonomous drive technical requirements.
